The Rockford IceHogs just completed a very successful weekend, winning 3 out of 3 games. Friday & Saturday nights brought back to back home games against the Houston Aeros. The IceHogs took both games with scores of 2-1 and 4-1 respectively. The third game was hosted Sunday by the Milwaukee Admirals and the Hogs came home with a Shoot Out win.
Several former IceHogs players were noted to be on the Aeros roster. Goalies Joe Fallon & Mike Brodeur, center Jeff Taffe. Fallon was in net Friday night, but sustained a injury, sidelining him from Saturday’s game. Brodeur warmed the bench as back-up on Saturday.
Joining the IceHogs roster for the remainder of the season are Chicago Blackhawks’ prospects Terry Broadhurst and Mark McNeill. McNeill made his debut on Friday night, while Broadhurst debuted on Saturday. Both appeared to mesh in well with the team and no glaring mistakes were noted.
Saturday night, Hogs’ Rob Flick (C), earned himself a Gordie Howe Hat Trick. It was his second of the season apparently. With family in the stands, it was great to see Flick shine. Netminder Carter Hutton continues to rise in the ranks of AHL goalies. He continues to show alot of excitement throughout the game, pumping the team up. He stands at the entrance to the tunnel after each period, glove bumping each teammate as they leave the ice. It was announced Monday morning that the Chicago Blackhawks have recalled him to Chicago.
