Distributed by Alderman Pawar through Constant ContactDear Neighbor,
With the NATO Summit coming up in a few days (May 19-21), I wanted to make you aware of the most recent information. Security will be heightened in the loop and you can expect to find road closures and reroutes of mass transit because of the summit. Impromptu protests are to be expected and Chicago Police and other law enforcement agencies are prepared to handle whatever exigencies might arise.
Notify Chicago: The City of Chicago Office of Emergency Management and Communications (OEMC) maintains a system called "Notify Chicago." When you register here, you will receive important updates on road closures, emergencies and any other events that would warrant notification. As such, our office will not insert ourselves into emergency notification unless something unexpected occurs. Notify Chicago is your best and most reliable source for information from authorities during the NATO Summit.
Road Closures: To read the full release from the Chicago Police Department and the United States Secret Service regarding security and road closures, please click here. Maps of closures can be found on the last two pages of the release.Chicago Transit Authority: The CTA has prepared a website to inform riders all about what they can expect during the NATO Summit.
