Announcing the NEW Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce
Serving More Than 300 Businesses on Chicago’s North Side
Chicago, Illinois (September 7, 2012) – Today the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce is proud to announce it is expanding its territory to officially include the Ravenswood Community. In January of 2012 the Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce began to expand its service area to more effectively serve long time members in the Ravenswood area.
“We are thrilled to announce our new name, Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. It is the logical next step to serving our members. We represent two unique areas and want to make sure that both of them are recognized,” said Melissa Flynn, Executive Director of the new Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce. “We are very fortunate to reside in an area where two thriving communities come together. We look forward to being able to promote to the rest of the city and beyond what we know are two of the greatest neighborhoods in Chicago,” said Flynn.
“Lincoln Square and Ravenswood both have unique identities, they enjoy a combined five public transportation stops and compliment each other perfectly. As Alderman of the 47th ward I fully support the new Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce and encourage businesses to take full advantage of the excellent opportunities and services the organization will provide,” said 47th Ward Alderman Ameya Pawar.
More then 111 businesses could potentially benefit from the new LSRCC. Several businesses are already part of the Chamber, including the current Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce Vice President Darby Putnam, owner of Fountainhead. “Being located at the corner of Montrose & Damen, we have always thought of ourselves as being part of both the Ravenswood & the Lincoln Square communities, now the name directly reflects that. We have benefited tremendously by our involvement with the Chamber, and we know our Ravenswood neighbors will reap the same benefits we have,” said Putnam.
The new LSRCC will serve businesses from the Chicago River on the west, Montrose Avenue on the south, Foster Avenue on the north and Ravenswood on the east.
“We are truly excited about the opportunity to bring our positive energy to continue the mission of the Lincoln Square Chamber and represent the small businesses that have made our neighborhood so great to the Ravenswood community,” said Jason Kraus, President of the Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce.
The Lincoln Square Chamber of Commerce was awarded a coveted 3-Star Accreditation in 2011 by the U.S. Chamber of Commerce. The Lincoln Square Chamber is the only neighborhood Chamber in the City of Chicago to receive such recognition and is in the top 3% of Chambers across the country.
The Lincoln Square Ravenswood Chamber of Commerce will host a celebratory event at Fountainhead, September 18th.
