Lindmark Named All American
North Park men’s soccer midfielder Filip Lindmark
was named a National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) Division III All-American for the 2012 season.
Lindmark, a senior from Skovde, Sweden, and a graduate of Vasterhojdsgymnasiet High School, finished second on the team in assists with four and tallied four goals this season. He tied for second-best on the team in total shots (57) and was tied for sixth-best in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin (CCIW) in total assists. He was named to the All-CCIW First Team for the second straight season and scored his first-ever postseason goal in the Vikings record-setting 4-1 win over Washington University-St. Louis in the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Lindmark is the second North Park men’s soccer player in the last two seasons to earn NSCAA All-American honors.
"Filip's passion and drive to succeed on the field is second to none. He has a tireless work-rate and is incredibly focused,” said North Park head coach John Born. “Filip approaches the classroom in the same manner. He will graduate in three years with a GPA of 3.2. He is a great leader and will be dearly missed next season. I know Filip will go on to do great things in life."
North Park finished the year with a 13-3-5 record, the best under Born since the 2006 season, and for the ninth consecutive season the Vikings earned 10 or more victories. They also finished the regular season with a six-game winning streak.
