Friars 42, Rams 35
Coach Tom Kleinschmidt’s Gordon Tech Rams suffered a frustrating overtime loss to the Fenwick Friars, 42-35, Friday night at Fenwick. Coming off their first Catholic League victory in three seasons against powerhouse St. Joseph, the Rams (10-6, 1-6) looked to surprise Coach John Quinn’s Fenwick Friars. The Rams’ solid defense continued but they fall behind 21 to 16 at the half. The Rams struggle shooting the ball from the outside.
The Rams battled back in the fourth quarter erasing a nine point deficit and taking a three point lead. A late turnover by GT turned into a lay-up and three point play for Fenwick to tie the game. Gordon’s catalyst, Jerry Davis, fouled out on the play. With Davis out, the Rams struggle to score in the overtime. Despite solid inside scoring from Sam Rarick, Raequan Williams and Jerry Davis, the lack of outside shooting continues to keep the Rams from multiple Catholic League victories.
The Rams face Francis Parker on Tuesday and St. Laurence on Friday and expect to get back in the win column.
