Rams 41, Lions 26
The Gordon Tech Rams (13-8, 3-6) defeated the Leo High School Lions (1-16, 0-9) Friday night, 41 to 26, at Gordon. The Rams jumped out to a lead in the first half but the Lions brought it 20 to 19 at the half. After that, the Rams defense simply turned off the Lions scoring limiting the Lions to only seven points in the second half and only one in the last five minutes of the game.
Former DePaul star, coach Tom Kleinschmidt has the Rams headed in the right direction. This victory gave GT its third Catholic League Victory of the season which is three more than the Rams have had in the preceding three seasons.

The sites for the IHSA State Playoffs were announced. Because of increased enrollment, Gordon Tech moved up to the 3A IHSA class this year. For the first time in three years, Gordon will not host a regional. The Chicago 3A regional sites are Brooks, Julian, Robeson, Senn, Marshall and St. Ignatius. However, the regional in which Gordon will be placed depends on seeding rather than location. Gordon could be placed in the Evergreen Park, Ridgewood, North Chicago, St. Joseph or Vernon Hills regionals as well.
GT has won its regional the last two years in the 2A class and advanced to the Sectional championship game under former coach Shay Boyle. However, being in 3A this year will make it a lot tougher on the Rams. Other Catholic League 3A teams included St. Ignatius, St. Rita, and St. Joseph.
Four games remain for the Rams before the playoffs begin. Saturday night is senior night where the Rams host U.I.C. College Prep. Next Tuesday, GT goes to Holy Trinity High School. Next Friday, February 8, 2013, GT hosts Loyola Academy and welcomes back its 1962 Catholic League championship team for a special celebration. In two weeks, Friday, February 15, 2013, the Rams travel to Catholic League leading St. Ignatius to end the regular season.
